BLACK DOG BARKS
What a day! Whether it was the drama of Ann Hill miscalculating the exact location of the 5 km mark to the surprise of team mate and anchor Julianne Collins, or the mass of spectators at the 20km feeding station, or the arrival of Rick with Collector's real black dog Storm at the finish line, here is your chance to reflect on what the Black Dog meant to you!! What about that spectacular finish? Have you ever experienced anything like it? As Perry Como sang, 'magic... moments...memories we keep sharing...'
Just quietly, it meant wind-burn for me.
Marathon race report in full detail, see it in the current Goulburn post !
Magic Memories to share
The smile on Chizza's face as he greeted me at the 6km mark (thought to be 5km) in the pace Tarago with the words" I am loving this job!".
Tim and Yvette Windsor cheering and encouraging runners (two) whilst enduring the blustering cold at check points on Short Street
Cruising along the Valley of truth (Kate tells me it is called) feeling a little like Forest Gump(not sure I am complimenting myself or Forest with the likeness?)
20km feeding station under the Hume Hwy overpass where James McKay was so involved in capturing the exciting moments on camera that runners were left to pour their own gatorade.
Also at 20km mark Jem Hill and Arthur Hadlow sculling the gatorade and downing lollies whilst the fathers talked up their own running achievements and plans to blitz the field next year.
Running from 40km to the finish line together with my team mates and seeing the local support at the finish line. All that running on cold morning shad paid off!
I have been re-living the finest moments of the CBDM thanks to this great photo montage and the accompanying commentary...I reckon I'll add it to my cv and the t-shirt thats gone straight to the pool room... until next year.
A big thanks to Billy & Claire for the organisation and to Billy for giving us all the training and confidence that we could complete the 42.4km and in under 5hrs. As well as second place we were the first women over the line. Yay team!!!
Thank you very much T, I was hoping someone would notice the deft skill of the pace car driver. Not one wheel spin, drift or Scandinavian flick despite an overwhelming desire to put the Targs through its paces.
It's true, the Tarago is For Sale, we'll be sorry to see it go but we have just got o learn to share, and to be patient with "are we there yet..." even when she is driving.
Huge thanks to the ABC household for the super suave bit of social engineering and a fab day.
Next year, in some shape or form, I will run in the CBDM !!!!! I can't wait.
A super big thank you to the citizens of Collector who have once again proved that small is mighty! The marathon could not have happened without all the marshalls, water station aids, soup stirrers, finish line holders and cheerers. Collector has offically been bitten by the marathon bug. Bring on CBDM 2009!!!
What a cracking day, congratulations to BP for both organising the event (ably assisted by Claire) and genuinely 'going the distance' on a day when weaker souls opted to to sit inside with a cup of tea. Great work also by the relay team whose group finish has to rate up among Collector's most memorable sporting moments. The other highlight for me was enjoying big Chiz's work in the "pace Tarago". I note that it's for sale- would look good with a black dog logo painted on the side. How many t-shirts is a Tarago worth?

Look bro, you need research paper.
