WELCOME TO COLLECTOR...

THE SOUTHERN TABLELANDS SOUND VOLUME 1.

It really all started with Oval Aid. A couple of people gathered together and became wedded to the idea of turning Collector's neglected oval into a regenerated and reconstructed haven of sporting excellence. The ancestors of what is now universally known as the Southern Tablelands Sound, the Lo Range Experience (last seen heading off for a spiritual retreat somewhere in the Hindu Kush) put together an extravaganza at the Collector Bushranger Hotel. Channelling Bob Geldof and the fundraising skills of the enfant terrible Stephen Shaw, the OVAL AID gig raised an astonishing $300 towards the half-million dollar project.

Yes, that's right folks. Not $3 or $30 - but $300 in cold, hard cash was raised by a band ahead of its time, along with an intrepid 10 year old kid hassling punters who were far more interested in Friday Night Footy than listening to the rich, yet raw and unrefined sound of the Lo Range Experience.

That gig is now ancient history, yet its legend has grown, and we find ourselves here, at a key moment in time where it looks likely that the forces of popular music and the village of Collector will combine in one of those rare zeigeist moments to produce THE NEXT BIG THING.

For there is no doubt, for those in the know, that THE NEXT BIG THING is the SOUTHERN TABLELANDS SOUND.

Entirely conceived, written, performed, recorded and produced in the town that the Federal Highway forgot, Volume 1, 'Welcome to Collector', of the Southern Tablelands Sound IS OUT NOW.
